I am looking forward to starting my second year as Principal of Forbush Elementary. This past year at FES we worked on several major initiatives such as preparing to become a Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) school, focusing on instruction during small flexible grouping blocks for math and English language arts, looking at ways to give Forbush a fresh look and investing in more technology resources. This summer we completed several campus beautification projects to include painting the front of the school, adding painted accent walls in most classrooms, fixing several sidewalks and installing new flooring in three classrooms and the cafeteria. We look forward to continuing many of our transformation projects that the School Improvement Team has identified throughout this school year.
This year I will be starting my twenty-second year in education. Prior to coming to Forbush, I was a school administrator in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools. Before becoming an administrator, I taught first through third grades as both a special education and regular education teacher. When I am not working with children, I am a Colonel in the United States Army Reserve. I've been in the Army for over 29 years and I am currently serving as the North Carolina State Emergency Preparedness Liaison Officer in Raleigh, NC.
