I am delighted to join the fantastic community of learners at Forbush Elementary. I have heard great things about the community, and I look forward to continuing the work that has been done thus far this year. I know this year has been challenging on many levels, and the staff and community have persevered through the obstacles to ensure students are safe, nurtured, and are continuing to learn and grow. Together, we will continue the tradition of excellence at Forbush Elementary.
I am a native of Yadkin County and graduated from Yadkin County Schools. I currently reside in Wilkes County with my family and our pets. After graduating from Appalachian State University with a degree in Middle Grades Education, I spent the beginning of my teaching career in Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools as a middle school math teacher, coach, PBIS Chair, and sponsor of various student clubs. While in Chapel Hill, I graduated from UNC with a Master of School Administration degree. After moving back to the area, I spent several years as an Instructional Specialist/Coach at West Wilkes Middle School in Wilkes County. I returned to Yadkin County Schools as the Assistant Principal at West Yadkin Elementary early in the 2020-2021 school year. I have enjoyed each experience and take something from each role with me in my journey as a lifelong learner.
As your Principal, I will strive to ensure that the work that you have done continues seamlessly and will support you through the remainder of the year. I value consistent, efficient communication, so my door is always open for students, staff, and families. I will give you my best every day and I expect the same from you in return. I am excited to work together with the students, families, staff, and community as a united team to ensure student success and growth for all this school year.
