Forbush Elementary School Media Center

Mrs. Bowser, Media Specialist

Mission:  The Mission of the Forbush Elementary School Media Center is to ensure that all students and staff are effective and efficient users of ideas and information.

Hours:  The media center is open at 7:45 each morning before school and is open after school until 3:40 on Mondays through Thursdays and until 3:15 on Fridays for students who need to check out books and use library materials.  All students have checkout times with their classes on days 1 and 2 of the rotation.  In addition, the library has an open checkout policy and flexible schedule for students and staff on days 3, 4, 5, and 6 of the rotation for those needing to use the library.

Checkout Policy:  Students in first through fifth grade are allowed to check out two books at a time from the media center.  Students in preschool and kindergarten may choose one book.  Books can be checked out for a two week period.  If more time is needed, please ask for a renewal.  Magazines are available for overnight checkout for students in grades three through fifth.

Fines:  Books that are lost or damaged must be paid for.  If a student pays for a book and then later finds that book and it is still in good condition, the library will refund the money.  Students returning a book without a barcode will be charged a $5.00 fine to cover the cost of replacing the barcode.  Also, there is a $5.00 charge for lost magazines.
