📝 Exam Season is Approaching: What Students and Families Need to Know
As we head into the final stretch of the school year, exam season is just around the corner. We want to ensure that all students and families are prepared and informed. Below you’ll find everything you need to know about exam conflicts, testing schedules, sign-out procedures, and exemption policies.
🔁 Exam Conflicts & Rescheduling
We understand that some students may have scheduling conflicts during exam week. To streamline the process:
👉 Do not email teachers or counselors.
Instead, please complete this form for Mrs. Overby:
📄 Exam Conflict Form
Once submitted, students will receive a letter confirming their rescheduled exam time.
📚 CTE (Career & Technical Education) Exam Information
CTE exams will take place Tuesday through Thursday of exam week. These exams include:
Apparel and Textiles I
Automotive Service Fundamentals
Automotive I & II
Foods I & II
PFHS
Health Science I
Hospitality and Tourism
Sports Marketing II
📌 Other Important Exam Information
Thursday, May 22 is not an early release day, even though no exams are scheduled for that afternoon. Buses will run on their regular schedule.
Students who miss an EOC exam during exam week will receive an incomplete until the exam is made up.
All exams count for 20% of the final course grade.
🕒 Sign-Out Procedures During Exams
To help minimize disruptions:
Students who plan to leave early must return a signed early dismissal form to the office by May 16.
Students may not leave a testing session early. EOC testing rooms will not allow checkouts mid-session.
The office will not call into classrooms during exams to retrieve students.
Students signing out early may pick up lunch and leave campus immediately.
Students may not sign out siblings at Forbush Middle School.
Students are not permitted to visit other school campuses on exam days.
✅ Final Exam Exemptions for Teacher-Made Exams
Students in grades 9–12 may be exempt from locally developed final exams if they meet the following criteria:
Final Grade | Max Excused Absences |
---|---|
A | 4 |
B | 3 |
C | 2 |
D | 1 |
Please note:
No exemptions are allowed for courses with NC-mandated exams (like EOCs).
Students with unexcused absences, 5+ tardies, or multiple in-school suspensions will lose exemption privileges.
Any out-of-school suspension automatically disqualifies students from exemptions.
The principal reserves the right to adjust exemption eligibility due to extenuating circumstances.
📝 Even if exempt, students are encouraged to take exams. If the exam improves the grade, it will count as 20% of the final grade. It will not hurt the grade if it lowers the average.
We appreciate your support in helping students finish strong. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to the school office. Let's make the end of the semester a success!
